Are you considering being a wedding planner but not quite sure what a wedding planner does and what services you would offer?
Much depends on your skills and the niche you select but this is what most wedding planners do:
Meet with a couple, learn their wedding vision and create a plan to make it a reality
Create and oversee the wedding budget so the couple doesn’t spend money they don’t have
Assist in selecting the wedding date, taking in consideration holidays and special events that the couple may not have thought of themselves
Create and manage the wedding timeline so everything thing gets done
Give advice on wedding attire to assure that the styles blend well with the style and theme of the wedding
Help select invitations, flowers, the cake, linens, the menu, any style elements for the ceremony and reception so everything follows the theme of the event
Provide information on wedding etiquette, customs and traditions that the couple wants to follow
Research venues and help select a site that will match the budget, size and theme of the wedding
Research, recommend, and assist in selecting vendors that can carry out the couple’s wedding vision at their budget level
Negotiate contracts to help the couple get the best deals while still getting the wedding they want
Be the single-point-of-contact for vendors so the couple won’t be stressed trying to keep track of everyone themselves
Design or work with the design team to design the ceremony and reception sites
Run the rehearsal and give the wedding party directions so everyone knows their responsibilities on the wedding day
Assist the wedding party in dressing and preparing for the ceremony so they have someone they can rely on to direct them when they need help
Oversee the setup of the ceremony and reception sites, coordinating vendors and staff so all runs smoothly
Manage the wedding ceremony and reception so it runs on schedule
Oversee the exit the bride and groom and the cleanup so the friends and family can relax after the wedding
Plan wedding-related parties such as the engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelor and bachelorette parties, bridesmaids’ luncheons, rehearsal dinners, after-parties, and post-wedding brunches so the families and friends of the couple don’t have to do it
And so much more. . .
In other words, a wedding planner handles all the details that help a couple realize their dream wedding without stress of doing it themselves.
